Giving

A brush of the hand (Part I) — Giving.

In support of rural communities recovering from mass traumas, I facilitated a renewal workshop last year for the entire staff of a social-impact company in Cambodia.

Recently in our new online leadership program, the managers introduced themselves again and shared about their respective professional challenges
— draining stress, tense relationships, and low motivation or self-empowerment within their teams.

🤲 Then I gently turned to a woman who had remained silent.
She said she was working as a cleaning lady and was happy with her work.
What brought her was something else: in last year’s workshop, during the grief-healing process, she had broken down in tears and I had come to place my hand on hers.
That little gesture stayed with her, and now, despite the language challenge, she wanted to continue learning and serve the community.

With gratitude and heartfelt emotion, I honored her humble capacity for happiness, her courage to finally heal from the past, and her desire to grow and serve.

🌱 Plant kindness — it may grow unseen, take root in someone’s heart, and one day bloom.
✨ An authentic leadership is found from a deep place within, when we return to the purity of the heart.
✨ Grassroots leadership is key to driving large-scale change in our world.
Some things I’ve been reminded of, again and again.

Next, I’ll share a story about receiving — because learning always flows both ways.
