Des recherches menées sur plusieurs génocides ont montré que les effets des traumas associés peuvent s’étendre de manière significative aux descendants qui n’ont jamais été directement exposés à la violence initiale.
Le trauma peut faire écho au travers des générations.

Les Cérémonies Les Eaux Guérisseuses sont des espaces sacrés de témoignage, d’hommage et de guérison collective – dans la dignité.
Créées et menées pour Lightrise Childcare, association à but non lucratif soutenant la rémission et le renouveau des communautés rurales après des traumas de masse.

The Healing Waters Ceremonies are sacred spaces for collective witnessing, honouring, and healing – with dignity.
Created and facilitated for Lightrise Childcare, a non-profit supporting the recovery and renewal of rural communities after mass trauma.
I invite you to discover the ceremonies and the vision that sustains them.

We’re launching a 3-month campaign to fund our first ceremonies of healing.
We’ll be starting with survivors of the Khmer genocide, their descendants, and all who carry their stories.

Every revolution begins with a promise.
Freedom.
Justice.
Equality.
Progress.
And yet, history also reminds us of the terrible price humanity has so often paid in the name of ideology.

This month, as the United States celebrates Independence Day and France commemorates Bastille Day, I found myself reflecting on the revolutions that have shaped our world, including the devastating Khmer Rouge revolution in Cambodia, my birth country.

Revolutions can be both catalysts for change and instruments of destruction.
Far too often and far too painfully, before, during, and after, human beings pay the price.

As humanity continues to be pulled from one ideology to another,
I wonder:
Do we fully understand what is truly at stake?
Do we fully understand the forces and hidden agendas shaping the world around us?
Must humanity always pay the price in blood?

Truth and wisdom remain the only solid ground from which we can act with fairness and discernment – rather than reaction.
This is why we must never stop seeking Truth.
Never stop seeking Wisdom.
Peaceful changes for the greater good of all begins there.

Perhaps the greatest revolution of all begins within us.
Our conscious evolution as human beings,
as we are called to rise toward greater awareness and higher wisdom.
The inner (r)evolution.

[FR]  Toute révolution commence par une promesse.
La liberté.
La justice.
L’égalité.
Le progrès.
Et pourtant, l’histoire nous rappelle également le terrible prix que l’humanité a si souvent payé au nom de l’idéologie.

Ce mois-ci, alors que les États-Unis célèbrent le Jour de l’Indépendance et que la France commémore le 14 juillet, j’ai pensé aux révolutions qui ont façonné notre monde, dont la révolution dévastatrice des Khmers rouges au Cambodge, mon pays natal.

Les révolutions peuvent être à la fois des catalyseurs de changement et des instruments de destruction.
Trop souvent et trop douloureusement, avant, pendant et après, des êtres humains en paient le prix.

Alors que l’humanité continue d’être entraînée d’une idéologie à l’autre,
je me demande :
Comprenons-nous pleinement les vrais enjeux ?
Comprenons-nous pleinement les forces et les agendas cachés qui façonnent le monde qui nous entoure ?
L’humanité doit-elle toujours payer le prix en sang ?

La vérité et la sagesse restent le seul terrain solide à partir duquel nous pouvons agir avec équité et discernement – plutôt que par réaction.

C’est pourquoi nous ne devons jamais cesser de rechercher la Vérité.
Ne jamais cesser de rechercher la Sagesse.
Des changements pacifiques pour le bien de tous commencent là.

Peut-être la plus grande révolution de toutes commence-t-elle en nous.
Notre évolution consciente en tant qu’êtres humains,
car nous sommes appelés à nous élever vers une conscience plus grande et une sagesse plus élevée.
Une (r)évolution intérieure.

(EN) The Gift of Life

I was deeply moved to meet up with an old friend recently.
With her hair just starting to grow back and looking very thin, she was only beginning to recover from cancer.

We rekindled our old friendship by catching up on the paths our lives had taken,
which had diverged since the days when we were both working as geophysicists at a national research institute.

She was pursuing a career there with great passion, whilst I had chosen to leave.
Not for lack of passion, but driven by a vague yet stronger inner calling – one that would take years still to reveal the humanitarian form it would take in the world.

When suddenly, with teary eyes, she said:
“There, in the depths of my illness, I thought,
I’ve failed at life.
I should have chosen a profession that could truly help others.
I wished, at the very least, I had lived my life more deeply.”

We don’t need to wait for those moments when life hangs by a thread.
We don’t need to be all nurses or doctors.

But yes, we are called upon to honour the gift of life by meeting each moment with awareness,
and I believe, to be of service to something greater than ourselves.

(FR) Le Don de la Vie

J’ai été profondément émue de retrouver récemment une amie de longue date.
Ses cheveux repoussant tout juste et très amaigrie, elle commençait seulement à se remettre d’un cancer.

Nous avons ravivé notre vieille amitié en nous racontant les chemins que nos vies avaient pris
– chemins qui s’étaient séparés depuis l’époque où nous travaillions toutes deux comme géophysiciennes dans un institut national de recherche.

Elle y poursuivait sa carrière avec beaucoup de passion, tandis que j’avais choisi de partir.
Non par manque de passion, mais poussée par un appel intérieur vague mais plus fort – un appel qui mettrait encore des années à révéler la forme humanitaire qu’il prendrait au monde.

Quand soudain, les yeux embués, elle me dit :
« Là, au plus profond de la maladie, j’ai pensé,
J’ai raté ma vie.
J’aurais dû choisir un métier qui permette vraiment d’aider les autres.
J’aurais souhaité, tout au moins, avoir vécu ma vie plus profondément. »

Nous n’avons pas besoin d’attendre ces moments où la vie ne tient qu’à un fil.
Nous n’avons pas besoin d’être tous infirmiers ou médecins.

Mais oui, nous sommes appelés à honorer le don de la vie en vivant chaque instant avec conscience,
et je crois, à être au service de quelque chose de plus grand que nous-mêmes.

I’ve been silent, witnessing what was unfolding in our world.

As revelations emerge on a massive scale through the long-awaited horrific files, a surge of hope has risen within me.
A hope that the times of truth have finally come, when the world’s illusions are set to crumble.

For long, courageous voices have spoken out, only to be met with silence,
as our minds resisted what challenged our sense of what’s plausible and possible.
Yet, did we listen with our hearts?

Already, our attention is shifting to other major conflicts.
Yet there too, these same patterns may hold keys to hidden truths shaping our world.

We must not look away.
We owe it to the brave souls and to all the children who have paid, and continue to pay, with their lives.

The scale of deception and horror is painful to confront.
We must learn to protect our hearts, without turning away.
Only by facing the hidden darkness can we consciously find our way to liberation.
We will need to heal the moral wounds of both personal and collective betrayal from those we trusted, giving them power and authority.

This is also what shaped my path.

Years ago, being mindful that even systems designed to protect can sometimes obscure harm and human trafficking – often unseen even by those dedicated to their work within them – I went on to found my own charity.
I called it Lightrise Childcare, as a path from darkness to light.

Alongside this, my professional work seeks to guide us toward a higher form of awareness.
One that nurtures discernment, not by imposing answers,
but by helping each of us reconnect with our own inner sense of knowing and truth.

For it is through the light of our awareness that we can make darkness dissolve.
